The Southern Province and the Northern Province Tourism Bureau have started the joining activities to implement a tourism promotion programme connecting the Southern and Northern provinces.
As the first step, a discussion was held between the officials of the Ruhunu Tourism Bureau and the officials of the Northern Tourism Bureau at the Ruhunu Tourism Bureau office recently.
They discussed many issues and identified many fields that they want to develop. Both sides agreed to work together to raise awareness about the tourist attractions in the North and South, their cultural values, food and beverages, and promote products in each province and thereby develop friendship.
They also discussed providing accommodation, food and transportation facilities to the foreign and local tourists at reasonable prices in those areas and specially considered about the security programmes for tourists who visit in the Southern and Northern areas.
Channa Saliya Mendis chairman of the Ruhunu Tourism Bureau, Heman Dharmapriya Director General and a group of officers of the Southern Tourism Bureau, and S. Krishok Kumar Director of the Northern Tourism Bureau S. Yogarajan Tourism Promotion officer and T Saranki, Development Officer participated for the discussion.
