Any Police officer aggrieved by any order of promotion, transfer on disciplinary action or any order of dismissal made by the Inspector General of Police or a Police officer or by a committee can file a written appeal against such order to the National Police Commission.
National Police Commission (NPC) Chairman Lalith Ekanayake, has issued the gazette with the working procedure in this regard. Accordingly, an officer can file only one appeal against such an order to the Commission.
Every appeal must be filed within a period of six months from the receipt of the relevant order. During the hearing of an appeal, the relevant committee may call the relevant records, observation files or other relevant documents and summon the complainant before the Commission.
The Panadura, Walana Central Anti-Corruption Task Force is conducting investigations.
