Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday said that the National People’s Power should be responsible for the present state of the country.
Speaking at an election rally in Gampola, the Opposition Leader said that the people have not forgotten how the JVP killed thousands of people during the 1971 and 1988-89 insurrections in the country.
“NPP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake is harping on every stage that his party was not involved in the governance. But he has completely forgotten that he was a Cabinet Minister in the Chandrika Bandaranaike government,” he said.
Premadasa asked who was involved in the campaign to bring Rajapaksas into power. “It was Anura Kumara Dissanayake who was campaigning from house to house to ensure the UPFA’s victory at the 2005 election,” he said. He added that the they have come to the limelight to take the people for a ride to achieve their nasty political objectives
