NPP’s sole source of power are the people – AKD

Throughout history, the people’s trust in its rulers was continuously broken. But we will establish a Government where the beliefs, hopes and goals of the  people become the beliefs and goals of the ruler, National People’s Power (NPP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.

“We are all working with the same goal to save this country from the destruction it is in. We don’t have any expectation of using even a single cent belonging to the people for personal use,” he said.

He stated this at the NPP Kotte constituency conference on Sunday (03).

“All production sectors have collapsed. Also, there is a serious shortage of professionals in the health sector, universities, and certain departments. Due to Ranil Wickremesinghe’s economic plans, the economic growth rate has collapsed to minus 11.5 percent. The collapse in the industrial sector is 23 percent. But Ranil and the Government say that the economy is recovering. The Budget targeted an income of Rs. 912 billion from VAT this year. But Rs. 230 billion has been received in the first six months. If goods and services are not produced in the country, there is no income,” the NPP chief said.

“When purchasing power decreases, the demand for fuel decreases, therefore the QR system has to be removed. But the Government is advertising that ‘Ranil is the person who removed the QR system’. As the demand for US dollars decreases, the US dollar has stopped at around Rs. 320. In the first quarter of this year, the Government has spent Rs. 824 billion more than the income received. There is a deficit of approximately nine billion per day. Approximately Rs. 6 billion is received by the Treasury per day. But they are borrowing Rs. 9 billion. Is this economy good? A system should be established in the country where the necessary money flows into the Treasury to meet expenses,” he said.

“We can increase our paddy production and stop the amount of dollars spent on rice. A large quantity of quality medicines can be produced in the country. An action which minimizes our dollar expenditure through production and increases dollar earnings, is part of our economic plan,” Dissanayake said.

“We will bring technology for an efficient public service. Organize the law in a fair manner for all. These rulers are doing everything they can to divide the people who stand against them. Especially at the 2019 elections, they created a conflict between Sinhalese and Muslims.”

“We are trying to save the country from this situation where we have been disgraced in front of the world. Our hope is to make the country a better country, where even the Police officers who go abroad for training and those who participate in sports representing the country will return home,” Dissanayake said.

“The upcoming election will become the most money-pumping election in the history of Sri Lanka. The only power that the National People’s Power has is the power of the people. Everyone is requested to gather together to further strengthen that power and carry it forward,” the NNP Leader said.
