Oluvil Eleven Star Sports Club beat Raheemiya Sports Club, Akkaraipattu by six wickets in the final to emerge champions and bagged the Jolly Boys Champion Trophy of the limited overs cricket tournament conducted by Jolly Boys Sports Club, Akkaraipattu at the Alayadivembu Tharmasanghari play grounds recently.
Akkaraipattu Jolly Boys Sorts Club organized the knockout cricket tournament to mark the completion of forty years of the club. Altogether 32 prominent teams from Ampara district took part.
Akkaraipattu Raheemiya Sports Club batted first and scored 61 runs in their allocated eight overs for loss of six wickets. In reply, Oluvil Eleven Star Sports Club, scored 62 runs in 6.2 overs losing four wickets. Man of the series was Shifan and man of the match was Malik of Eleven Star SC who were and awarded prizes.
The award ceremony was held under the patronage of the Akkaraipattu Jolly Boys Sports Club President and the Accountant P.Punitharaj while the Alayadivembu Divisional Secretary V.Pabaharan graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Champion team’ received a Rs.50,000. cash award and the Champion Trophy from the Chief Guest Alayadivembu Divisional Secretary V.Pabaharan. Runner-up Akkaraipattu Raheemiya SC was awarded a cash prize of Rs.30,000 and trophy from the Jolly Boys SC former player and veteran businessman Ariyadasa Dudley at the award ceremony.
