Opposition will support amendments if LG Poll is held – Kiriella

Chief Opposition Whip, Lakshman Kiriella told Parliament yesterday that the Opposition is ready to extend its support and secure a two-thirds majority if the government makes the necessary constitutional amendments to hold the Local Government election.

Therefore, he requested Parliament to make necessary arrangements to hold the election immediately.

He said this soon after the commencement of proceedings of the House yesterday.
