Over 23,000 school teachers, principals, and employees attached to other categories of the Education Ministry have been selected for performing official duties at the Presidential Elections to be held tomorrow (21).
These employees of the Education Ministry would be deployed for duties at polling stations and counting centres countrywide, North Western Assistant Provincial Director of Education J.M. Ranaweera told the Daily News yesterday (19). Some 63,000 police officers too would be on election duty from today up to Monday (23), he said.
Meanwhile, Railway Department Deputy General Manager N.J. Indipolage told the Daily News yesterday (19) that for government servants and the security forces to reach their places of official duties at this election, a special train service has been made available from Colombo Pettah railway station to Kankasanturai railways station from yesterday (19) morning till Saturday (21).
