Over 8,000 jobs for Sri Lankans in South Korea this year – SLBFE Chairman
Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) Chairman Kosala Wickramasinghe has announced that steps are being taken to provide over 8,000 employment opportunities for Sri Lankans in South Korea in 2025.
He made this statement during an event held yesterday to hand over air tickets to the first batch of Sri Lankans heading to South Korea for manufacturing sector jobs this year. Ninety-six Sri Lankans were given air tickets during the event.

Wickramasinghe also highlighted that Sri Lankan expatriate’s remit over US$ 6,000 million annually, significantly boosting the country’s economy, for which the Government expresses its gratitude.
According to the agreement between South Korea and Sri Lanka, 5,562 Sri Lankans left for employment in South Korea last year. This includes 4,699 for the manufacturing sector, 846 for the fishing sector, 16 for the construction sector and one worker for the agricultural sector.
