Police Special Task Force (STF) seized a stock of about 85,000 kilos of low-quality coriander along with related chemicals from a reprocessing centre mixing chemicals with coriander at Old Beach Road, Kalmunai Police Division.

A group of officers of the STF conducted a raid in Kalmunaikudi and a 44-year-old resident of Kalmunaikudi 08 was arrested for mixing coriander with sulphur powder, storing and repacking them. for substandard coriander.

2,125 kg of coriander mixed with sulfur powder, 82,750 kg of substandard coriander and 225 kg of sulfur powder were taken into police custody. The suspect has been handed over to the Ampara District Office of the Consumer Affairs Authority for further investigation. The raid was conducted by STF on the information received by the Army Intelligence Division. STF Tirukkovil Camp Commanding Officer Inspector R.W.V.S. Rajapaksa directed the raid.
