Over Rs 1.1 Mn heist in cash, gold from shoe rack in house

Kalawana Police are investigating a robbery of Rs.850,000 in cash and gold items worth more than Rs.250,000, hidden in a shoe rack within the house, by its owner, for greater safety.

The owner of the house in Kalawana, Galketiya, told Police that the robbery took place between 7.30 pm on Monday (18) and 4 am on Tuesday (19). Investigations so far have not revealed how the thieves entered the house.
