Parliament is set to take up a motion today with the agreement reached by Government and Opposition members to introduce a set of new rules and regulations to maintain the cricket administration transparently without corruption for the advancement of the cricket game in Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, the Motion titled “Removal of the corrupt officials including Chairman from Sri Lanka Cricket Board,” will be taken up for debated starting from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm as per the agreement reached by Government and Opposition leaders at the Committee on Parliamentary Business convened under the Chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapaksa yesterday.
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa submitted the proposal related to the debate in writing to the Secretary General of Parliament yesterday and it has been agreed to present it to Parliament today. It has also been agreed to second the Motion by the Government. The vote is scheduled to be held at 5.30 pm. After the statement made by Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe regarding Sri Lanka Cricket, the members of the opposition continued to comment on this matter yesterday in Parliament and the Opposition Leader requested to hold a meeting of Party leaders to discuss this matter. Accordingly, a Committee meeting was held.
