Parliamentary Polls peaceful, except for two incidents of violence – CaFFE

Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) Executive Director Manas Makeen said that CaFFE had deployed 2,000 observers on Election Day (14) covering all 25 geographical districts and had received 172 complaints of violation of election laws and two complaints of incidents of violence.

The two incidents of violence took place in Kalmunai in the Digamadulla district. Makeen said that CaFFE had informed the Election Commission in writing on Wednesday, of places it had identified where violence could occur and Kalmunai was one of them.

CaFFE observers had reported that one person was admitted to the Ashraf Memorial Hospital as a result of the violence.
