Parliamentary Select Committee to probe Sri Lanka Cricket

Attention has been focused on the appointment of a Parliamentary Select Committee to investigate irregularities of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). Parliament Secretary General Kushani Rohanadeera said that it was agreed to establish this committee under a co-chairmanship of parties including both Government and Opposition and including co-committee membership.

It has been discussed that committee meetings on COPE should be held in relation to Sri Lanka Cricket and other institutions according to the decision of the committee members. If steps are taken regarding the chairmanship of the COPE, it should also be done according to the consent of the committee members.

The decision was taken by the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs which met at the Parliament Complex yesterday under the patronage of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
