Paving future proof leaders in corporate world by year 2030
Aspirations create your vision! Your vision takes you to where you want to be in future.Taking into context the importance of uplifting today’s youth for tomorrow, they should be ready to take up the challenge of becoming future proof leaders in the corporate world, by the year 2030.
Education today has evolved to such levels where students are able to gain educational experiences that would empower them and mould them into future-ready leaders.
We live in a fast-paced world that continues to become ever more competitive and challenging. The opportunities are endless and creativity goes a long way.
Alongside these evolutions, we would also expect to witness other major issues through contradicting elements such as natural disasters, economic setbacks and where we are right now, with covid-19. It is high time that organisations and leaders take into account these issues around us and model themselves in a way that would eventually address such situations, which, as we have duly witnessed, are inevitable.
Along with this, we are also finding ourselves immersed in a digital era, which is a challenge in itself. Technological advancements and demographic changes will also be added to this mix. So, as future leaders, youth will have to be prepared to take on these challenges, and learn how to evolve as leaders while navigating forward with these changes in tow.
Concepts of a digitally connected world
According to data accumulated from Grant Thornton’s International Business Report (IBR) 2018, three disruptive forces that are set to hit businesses from now and upto the year 2030, were found to revolve around the concepts of a digitally connected world, AI and Big Data and Automation and Robotics. This clearly indicates that future changes will directly come through the avenue of technology. This data was collected following a global survey of senior leadership across mid-market business enterprises.
From these respondents, 42% believe that the world becoming digitally-connected would continue to hold the highest level of change for years to come. Tech advances would of course, follow on with the already growing fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, which stood at 40%. Automation and Robotics reported a figure of 35% and this area is definitely on the path of witnessing strong advances in future years. This goes to show that it is time our youth today are shown the way forward and provide them with the tools to grow and excel in these fields.
Today, there are internationally-recognized education service providers that cater to students and focus on delivering programs that will not only embolden the youth of today but will also ensure that the global demand is met. By the year 2030, we can expect a new generation of ambitious open-minded leaders and the commencement of many other global changes and progressions as we go forth.
A new complete economic world is emerging especially witnessing the advancements that Asian countries like China is going through. As Asians, this means the opening of more opportunities for us where it allows us with the opportunities to capitalize on these aspects. On the other hand, as Sri Lankans, we should also be equipped and prepared to put ourselves out there, on the global corporate market and try to make a difference while empowering our own youth in the process. Being able to elevate ourselves to a level where we not only immerse ourselves into a learning curve but also take best practices from those global experiences and use it to empower our youngsters is of utmost importance.
Become Global Citizens
To become a leader, it is essential that the right mind-set is adopted and that youth begin to think as global citizens. Today and for years to come, there would be enough and more opportunities.
Organisations too would want to diversify and hire individuals who would be capable enough to reach and penetrate into the demands of global customers and utilize innovative and creative streaks to reach those goals.
I would refer to the aspect of human-centric marketing as put forth by Phillip Kotler. I believe that human-centric, purpose-driven marketing will surely play a major role beyond 2030.
Encompassing a human-centric approach coupled with the addition of technological advancements is essential if we are to ever work towards achieving a goal whilst creating a product or service aimed at our customer. If one of these components is missing, then your end result would become incomplete and not worth the effort. It would not successfully fulfil your objective.
Think like a coach
When moving forward with whatever goal that has been set in mind, we need to be able to adopt certain disciplines and attitudes wherein, making it essential that we stay focused on how we would ourselves evolve over time and develop ourselves in the process. This sense of self-development means that you would also need to be able to ‘think like a coach’. Whilst improving one self, we should also be able to adopt a mentality where we would coach others around us and uplift them.
This means, that the youth of today, who will evolve in the next few years and grow to hold positions in global organisations or move ahead as entrepreneurs will also need to learn the global language and identify the needs of the global customer.
The buck does not stop here, as another most significant element that requires a lot of understanding and acknowledgement, is the attribute of emotional intelligence. This element is lacking in today’s society and it is indeed a much-needed skill and attribute that is worth harnessing.
So, it is important that our youth identify this need and become emotionally intelligent with their approach to work and create for themselves a world where they would pursue exciting careers, as global CEOs and across various other global professions that would only continue to evolve as the world continues to change around us.
