PC involved in treasure hunting while on duty arrested

The Assistant Superintendent of Police in Valachchenai has taken steps to interdict a Police Constable attached to the Sandiveli Police in Batticaloa who was involved in treasure hunting while on duty.

This PC in question had sneaked out of the Police station while on duty on February 9 and was caught digging for treasure inside a house in the Karadiyanaru area.

According to information received by the Valachchenai Police, six people including the Police Constable were arrested during a raid. When the Police raided the place, the suspect was engaged in digging for treasure inside the house in search of treasure while performing Puja.

The arrested Police Constable and the suspects have been remanded till February 24 after being produced before the Erreur Magistrate’s Court. A senior Police officer said that steps were taken to interdict the officer after an investigation in this regard.
