Pistol found hidden in Minuwangoda Court

Minuwangoda Police have found a locally manufactured pistol which was hidden in a garbage dump at the Minuwangoda Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

The pistol has been found by an individual who was cleaning the court premises on the orders of the court. It has been found that this pistol, which was kept in a polythene bag, had been hidden for sometime.

Police suspect that the pistol was brought to the court complex and hidden to carry out a criminal activity.

The Police took the pistol into custody based on the complaint made by the chief clerk of the Minuwangoda District and Magistrate’s courts. Police said that a court order will be obtained to refer the pistol to the Government Analyst for a report.
