Police arrested two women who assaulted a woman in car

A 59 year-old three-wheel driver had died when a luxury car returning from a nightclub in Bambalapitiya, Colombo smashed into his three wheeler in Kollupitiya on Saturday morning.

The car is said to have been driven by a millionaire businessman and three women had been with him inside the car at the time of the accident.The millionaire businessman driving the car had fled after the accident and the Kollupitiya Police had launched a raid to arrest him.

The Kollupitiya Police have checked the car’s number from the Motor Vehicle Registration Commissioner’s office and identified its owner.

According to Police investigations, a resident of Devanampiyatissa Mawatha, Colombo 10, a young man aged 26 was driving the car at the time of the accident.A 59-year-old Noordin Tuan died in this accident.

The driver is a resident of Navinna, Maharagama. The car involved in the accident travelling from Kollupitiya towards Colombo Fort had collided with the three wheeler going in the same direction.

After the accident, a woman who was among those who had gathered at the place had assaulted a woman travelling in the car which met with the accident.

It is said that the woman who assaulted the other woman was travelling in a car with her husband and was able to narrowly avoid colliding with the luxury car travelling at a high speed.Police say that the identity of the woman has not yet been revealed.

This assault was recorded by someone on a mobile phone and released on social media. Meanwhile, two sanitation workers of a private company affiliated to the Colombo Metropolitan Municipality engaged in road cleaning activities also attacked the woman in the car that was involved in the accident.Yesterday (11), the Police arrested the two women according to a complaint made by the assaulted woman to the Kollupitiya Police. Two women in the car were injured in the accident and are hospitalized.

A 33-year-old resident of Silva Place, Ratmalana was also travelling in the car. He has claimed that he is a property salesman in Dubai.

He has also given a statement to Police that he was also attacked by the crowd who had gathered at the accident site.

He told Police that his friend M.R.M.Rasul was driving the car and they were returning after spending the night at a nightclub.
