In recognition and appreciation of the honest and upright services rendered by Police officers and civilians, a Rewards ceremony was held yesterday (31), under the Chairmanship of the Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles, at the Ministry of Public Security.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Alles stated that such Police officers who perform their duties with honesty and integrity, without taking bribes, are good examples for the rest of the Sri Lanka Police.
In this instance, two police officers who refused a bribe of Rs 100,000 and two civilians who prevented a crime were rewarded.
He further said that the Sri Lanka Police Department expects the public’s support to fight crime.
Tiran Alles, In response to a question raised by a journalist, about the highway shootings by motorcyclists, he said that such incidents have been reported daily, especially in the Southern Province. However, due to new security measures put in place, there has been a decrease in such incidents, with further measures to be implemented, to curb such crimes.
