Police probe death threats on State Minister Semasinghe

Fort Police has commenced an investigation into a threat made by an unknown person to kill and burn the State Finance Minister Shehan Semasinghe. A management assistant and an office worker of the Finance Ministry have made this complaint citing that he received this telephone call at 4 pm and 4.09 pm on Wednesday.

This office assistant had answered the call that received at 4 pm through the main telephone number. When the office assistant said that the State Finance Minister was not in office, the person had threatened the State Finance Minister.

“We are the one’s who helped you during the election, tell him to stay in Colombo and him not to come here again, if he comes, he will pay with his life,”, the person had told the office assistant. He had said that another call came to the office nine minutes later threatening the State Minister. This time a management assistant had picked up the phone.

The senior Police officer further said Police will file facts in court regarding the investigations and steps will be taken to conduct investigations by obtaining telephone analysis report.
