Police sergeant held for alleged abuse of daughter

Narammala Police arrested a Police sergeant who allegedly sexually abused his 15-year-old daughter. The suspect Police sergeant works at the police field force headquarters.

Police said that the daughter’s mother went to work abroad in 2022 and the girl was allegedly abused shortly after this.

This girl has an elder sister who is married and lives separately with her husband.

The girl and her father lived in the same house.

This girl had developed a relationship with a youth from Balangoda. It is said that the young man had come to the girl’s house on her birthday in June 2022. This girl went to Balangoda with the young man and was living together with him. The girl had become pregnant while still she was a minor. She had told the doctors that she was first sexually abused by her father.

The Police sergeant was arrested as a result of the doctors informing the police about the disclosure made by the girl.

The Police are further investigating the incident.
