Policeman arrested for accepting bribe from abattoir owner

The Commission to Investigate Allegations on Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) arrested a Police Sergeant attached to the Police Divisional Crimes Investigation Unit of Polonnaruwa while soliciting a bribe of Rs.10,000 from the owner of a cattle slaughterhouse on Wednesday (8).

The Police officer had requested the bribe in order to allow this businessman to continue his business, violating the conditions in the permit issued to him. It was reported that the Police officer had been accepting bribes from the businessman for some time.

Accordingly, he had informed the CIABOC about the Police officer.The arrested is Sergeant S.P.Manawadu who was serving in the Polonnaruwa Police station.
