Policeman arrested for obstructing cops on duty at musical show

Pottuvil Police arrested a Police Sergeant last Sunday (18) who was wanted for obstructing a group of Police officers who were on duty at the Bakmaha musical show held at the Lahugala Divisional Council Stadium.

Steps had been taken to interdict this Police Sergeant yesterday (19), who was attached to the Wellawaya Police station. The Bakmaha musical show was held last Thursday (15) at the Lahugala Divisional Council Stadium. On this day, when going to arrest a suspect who was creating problems at the venue of the musical show, this officer and a group of people protested and obstructed other Police officers who were on duty at the venue.

The officer who was arrested was on leave and had returned to his home in Wellawaya. The suspect at the musical show was not arrested due to the interference of this officer. Police have reported the facts to the Pottuvil Magistrate’s Court in this regard.

According to information received, this sergeant who was evading Police was arrested near the Pottuvil bus stop.
