Policeman run over and killed by fleeing tractor in Jaffna

A Police Sergeant has been killed after being run over by a tractor transporting sand illegally in the Kodikamam area in Jaffna.

Police said officers at a roadblock in Kodikamam had signalled the tractor to stop. However, the driver had ignored the order and driven into the officers before fleeing the scene.

The Police Sergeant who was struck by the tractor died on the spot due to the injuries sustained in the incident.

Special police teams have been deployed to arrest the driver and locate the tractor involved in the incident. (Newswire)
