Politicians’ expenses to be cut, education sector to receive boost

Chief Government Whip Minister of Health and Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa stated in Parliament yesterday (17) that expenditures on politicians will be reduced, and funds from the Treasury will be redirected to benefit the children of the country.

The Minister made this statement while participating in the debate on the Supplementary Estimate presented to Parliament for providing allowances to schoolchildren to purchase stationery.

Dr. Jayatissa emphasised that the Government is committed to offering maximum support to ensure quality education for the nation’s children. He further affirmed that all possible resources will be allocated to education to uplift the country and secure a better future.
