Politics of selling innocent dreams of young men and women is over – Hazara

Hazara Gampala Liyanage, a district member of the ‘National People’s Power (NPP) women’s wing and candidate for the Galle district, insists that the politics of selling the innocent dreams of young men and women is over.

She stated this while speaking at the NPP public rally held in Baddegama recently to confirm the victory of the NPP Galle district Parliamentary candidates’ group.

Speaking further, Hazara, who is a lawyer, said, “For so long, politics was limited to only a particular group of people in society. There was no room especially for women to get involved in politics.

“Women were always used only to get votes. Likewise, the young generation of this country was also used. As young men and women, we did not have big dreams. But, until recently, politicians have managed to use our innocent dreams cheaply for their own benefit. The youth who were used to being lured with a job, a dream of buying a car, or foreign employment, are now entirely different. Because we have created an ample space in politics for the citizens of ordinary families, and the NPP has selected a strong group of candidates for the Galle district.

“This government, led by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, is working resolutely. Strictly speaking, the pitch is also good, the leader is also good, and the audience is also good. The General Election is held to choose the best team to play this game.

“A solid and balanced team consisting of 12 people from various fields has been selected to represent the Galle district for the General Election. Behind them are many other people who have made great sacrifices and gained strong experience. Those who did not engage in politics for their personal goals still work with common objectives. The opportunity to create a strong government has been created by combining the thoughts and wishes of the ordinary people and the thoughts and wishes of politics.”
