Poojana Ratnayake to lead Rajans

 The Dharmaraja College rugby side is blessed with a set of good ruggerites,and a fine player has come in as captain that is Poojana Ratnayake and co-vice captains are Luchitha Wijeratne and Anupa Herath. The captain and vice captains are sure to guide the team. There are over forty players at practices, and are under the guidance of top coach Dinesh Gamage, who is a talented coach who learnt his rugby at KIngswood College and also coached Kingswood College, Wariyapola Sri Suamangala College and the Assistant coach is Achala Perera, Trainer Tajitha Abeyakoon, Team Manager Imdika Ranatunga.

Dharmaraja College rugger commenced in in 1974 . The game was abandoned after a player had succumbed to an injury during a match.

. In 1976 they were able to hold their own against many established sides. The credit should go to former Thomian, Lal Kumarasinghe, a man who did a lot for Dharmaraja rugby as a coach and Master in Charge.. Lal was the keenest to bring up rugger at the Lake View School that was in mid 1970’s.

Mohamed Faisal heads CPRRA

Old boy of Vidyartha College Mohamed Faizal was elected as president of the Central Province Rugby Referees Association (CPRRA) at the Annual General Meeting held on Saturday at Vidyartha S.C., Nittawela. He took over from policemen Asela Muthumala. The Central Province Rugby Football Union(CPRFU) is the governing body for rugby union in Central Province, whish was established in 1992 in accordance with the SLRFU guidelines and constitution.

Faizal started his rugby career at Vidyartha College. He came into the game in 1992 and played as full back but occasionally occupied the fly half and centre positions. Faizal straight from school joined Kandy SC in 1994 and played for the Kandy SC and the B side Kandy Lions and later took up coaching and refereeing. He followed Sri Lanka Rugby Football coaching and refereeing programme. As a referee he has done his best and as coach he guided several schools to win tournaments at junior level.

The new office bearers Vice President Deepal; Puniyawardna, Nahesh Gunaratne both re-elected .Secretary – Raveen Alexander, Treasurer- Kelum Sandaruwan all of them reelected. the committee comprises Nilco Bandara, Nilco Bandara, Amila Rajakaruna, Sarath Madugalle,Amila Rajakaruna, Malsha Samaraweera, The Adivisory committee consists of veteran referee Anil Jayainsghe, Arnua Rankothge and Priyantha Gunaratne
