President holds discussions with representatives of several major Chinese companies

President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is on a four-day official visit to China, yesterday held discussions with representatives of several major Chinese companies including China Communications Construction Corporation, Sinopec Company, and BYD Company.

In these discussions, full attention was paid to the future investment opportunities and spaces in Sri Lanka. The development of the port city as an international financial center, the formulation of new financial rules and regulations for the port city premises, and the setting up of judicial and arbitral procedures limited to the port city premises were focused on. Also, there were discussions on many areas including electric operation of Sri Lanka’s transport systems, assembly of electric vehicles and electric train services. Company representatives told the President that they will provide maximum support for the promotion of Sri Lanka’s economy and take advantage of the investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.
