President orders full report on alleged attack

President Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday (12) instructed the relevant officials to provide him with a full report on the alleged assault on the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, Senior Professor Athula Senaratne and his son Vidura Senaratne.

The President has also told the Security Chiefs that university lecturers should not be allowed to face such incidents from now on.

President Wickremesinghe has also mentioned that the next steps to be   taken will be decided after receiving the full report regarding the assault incident. Athula Senaratne, Senior Professor of Earth Science Department and a former Vice-Chancellor of the Peradeniya University and his son Vidura Senaratne had been hospitalised after the incident last Saturday.
