President to hold special meeting with Speaker on IGP issue

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has decided to hold a special meeting with regard to the situation concerning the post of the IGP after the Speaker returns to the country from Iran, informed government sources said.

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena is currently in Iran to attend the swearing in ceremony of the new President of Iran. Earlier it was stated that the Speaker and the Chief Justice should resolve the issue concerning the IGP position. However, President Ranil Wickremesinghe is expected to hold a special meeting once Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena returns to the country on the steps that would be taken in the future with regard to the issue.
