Prez candidates must declare assets for nominations – EC Chairman

Election Commission Chairman R. M. A. L. Rathnayake said that the same set of rules and conditions used for the 2019 Presidential Election nomination will be used for the upcoming Presidential Election as well. He said that submitting declaration of assets and liabilities by each candidate is mandatory.

“When it comes to rejection of nominations based on eligibility criteria to submit nominations by Presidential candidates, the submitting the declaration of assets and liabilities by each Presidential candidate to the Election Commission will be mandatory and will be carried out according to the law with absolute confidentiality, EC Chairman Rathnayake said.
