Prez Poll polling cards distribution from Sept. 3

The distribution of official polling cards for the 2024 Presidential Election will commence on September 3 to 14, Deputy Postmaster General Rajitha Ranasinghe said.

Ranasinghe said that Sunday, September 8 has been designated as a special day for the distribution of official polling cards. He said that the distribution of the polling cards will take place from 8 am to 6 pm on Sunday, September 8 as it is a public holiday.

The Deputy Postmaster General requested the residents to stay at home on Sunday, September 8 in order to accept the polling cards. The Election Commission has instructed the Postal Department to end the distribution of official polling cards on September 14 and thereafter polling cards will not be distributed by postal workers, Ranasinghe said. However, those who did not receive their polling cards by September 14 can visit their relevant post offices from which they receive their letters during working hours and collect their polling cards by confirming their identity using their signatures, the Deputy Postmaster General added. The 2024 Presidential election is scheduled to be held on September 21 with 39 candidates contesting to become the next President of Sri Lanka. The total number of eligible voters for this year’s Presidential election is 17,140,280 and 1,148,258 out of them are those who will be voting for the first time.
