Education Minister Dr.Susil Premajayantha said that primary classes in schools will be held as usual despite the Advanced Level examination for 2023 being held in January 2024. He said that all the missed subjects will be completed in the next year by utilising the academic calendar well.
The Minister also mentioned that school holidays will be reduced accordingly.
Accordingly, primary classes will be conducted during the Advanced Level examination period. It has been scheduled to commence the Advanced Level examination from January 4 and continue to January 30.
Commenting on the Grade Five Scholarship Examination, the minister pointed out that passing the scholarship examination is not a process of getting marks beyond the cut-off mark.
He said that the scholarship cut-off marks are determined based on the amount of scholarship fund that the government can provide to students per year.
The minister pointed out that if the allocations can be increased further, the scholarship cut-off point will further decrease.
