Private sector pitches in to improve levels of English and IT in Sabaragamuwa
Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council is going to get the assistance of the private sector to improve the standard of English language and information technology knowledge of the students studying in the province.
Sabaragamuwa Governor Navin Dissanayake said that British Council and Brandex organizations will contribute to expand the opportunity to study English language and information technology to school students in Sabaragamuwa province.
He said this while addressing a workshop held on Thursday 24 with the aim of popularizing the English language and information technology in the Sabaragamuwa school systems. Sabaragamuwa provincial school principals and English instructors were present at these workshops, which were held at Kegalle, Ruwanwella, and Ratnapura Meneripitiya Education Training Centres.
This programme is implemented with the aim of popularizing the English language and information technology in the school system of Sabaragamuwa province.
With the intervention of the governor, the British Council has arranged to provide English training for around 700 English teachers in the province. Also, Brandex has provided 246 Smart Boards worth 350,000 rupees each for school children in the province to study.
The governor had planned to use the same system and provide formal training for school students in English and information technology, and it is currently being successfully implemented in Sabaragamuwa province.
Brandex has provided 1,598 Smart Boards including the 246 Smart Boards provided to Sabaragamuwa Province to cover other provinces as well.
