Providing Smart classroom for schools under “Digital Economy Strategy 2030” program jointly implemented

Under the “Digital Economy Strategy 2030” program jointly implemented by the Ministry of Education and Technology, the Smart classroom given to Agunakolapalassa North Kanumuldenia Lumbini Primary School was opened by the Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industry Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera last Friday (26).

The government has started the establishment of smart classrooms in schools across the island under the program of setting up friendly classrooms as per the instructions of the Honorable President Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe.

Minister Mahinda Amaraweera who expressed his views here-

Education modernization is essential. We know how children in difficult areas tried to get online education by climbing trees and rocks during the last covid epidemic season. Some children did not have facilities for that. At that time, I provided laptops, tablets and smart phones to more than 300 children in Hambantota district at my own expense.

Our next goal is to provide friendly classrooms to every school. The Honorable President has started a work order for that. The Minister also mentioned that today Kanumuldeniya will take steps to provide these classrooms to many other colleges as well as Lumbini College.
