Pulimood Memorial Oration on July 23

The 33rd Pulimood Memorial Oration will take place on Tuesday, July 23, from 5:15 pm onward, at the Jeremias Dias Hall, Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo 5, the organisers said.

This year’s Orator is Prof. Shanika Karunasekera, Deputy Dean (Academic), Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Melbourne, Australia.

In her oration titled ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI): The Dream, The Nightmare and The Reality’, Prof Karunasekera will take you through a journey that starts from the inception and evolution of AI to the modern state-of-the-art AI applications, a news release connected with the event said.

“She also hopes to share her experience on research in the field of AI and ponder on the potential pathways the uncertain future of AI may take, with valuable insights on how humanity can collectively prepare for AI’s transformative potential and steer it in a direction that maximises positive impact.”

The event will be live streamed on the official YouTube channel. It promises to be an interesting session for sure!, the organisers said.
