Quack LRH doctor remanded for defrauding

Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindha Jayasuriya yesterday ordered the remand of the individual who pretended to be a doctor at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital. The Magistrate made this order when this fake  doctor was produced before court yesterday. The suspect haddefrauded money while posing as a doctor. The complainant, Muwamada Imitiaz, had met this suspect in a bus and the suspect had told him that he was a doctor and that he was going to Australia soon and needed a driver, and that he was able to provide him with a driver’s job in Australia.

Accordingly, the complainant had been told to come near the Lady Ridgeway Hospital at seven in the morning on Tuesday and to bring Rs.60,000 being embassy fees.

Imitiaz had arrived near the hospital and was suspicious about the suspect. He has handed over the suspect to the hospital police. The stethoscope found from the possession of the suspect, a blue overcoat with the word doctor on it, and a pair of shoes were presented by the police as evidence in the case.
