Race Course murder: University student further remanded

The university student who was arrested and remanded for allegedly murdering his girlfriend with a sharp weapon at Race Course grounds in Colombo was ordered to be further remanded till February 27 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis yesterday.  

When the matter was taken up before the Magistrate, the Cinnamon Gardens Police requested permission from the Magistrate to call an analysis report from the Government Analyst Department regarding the 11 Court productions including the mobile phone of the suspect.

Accordingly, the Magistrate allowed the Cinnamon Gardens Police to obtain an analysis report pertaining to those Court productions. The suspect was not produced before the Court yesterday.

The Magistrate fixed further inquiries into the case for February 27.
