Rajans under 14 hockey team do Kandy proud

Dharmaraja College under 14 hockey team made Kandy proud by winning the Golden Star award at the 14 hockey carnival organized by the Sri Lanka School Hockey Federation which was played at the Peradeniya University grounds and Kingswood College grounds for four days, from December19 to 22

Hockey displayed by the teams were excellent. This was a boys and girls tournament and it was nice to see 96 teams in action sixty boys and thirty-six girls teams and the teams were divided into 17 groups, comprising 10 boys’ teams and seven girls’ teams, The top three teams in each group were awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals.

Dharmaraja College remained unbeaten and beat Asoka MV Colombo 1-0, Wijayapala MV Matale 1-0, Sri Parkrama MV Matale 1-0 and they had draws with St. Benedicts College, and Medananda MV Galle, the side was made out of players like N.B. Ratnayake, S.B. Dissanayake, P. Wijekoon, D. Dissanayake, S. Abayakoon, A. Navaratne, S. Premawardana, S. Withanarachchi, Narampitya Attanayake, Dharmakeethi, Disnsara, Diyawaduna Weerasinghe, Herath Premawardene, Diyawaduna Jayawardena, M. Jayaratne N. Dissanayake, , the side was coached by Indrawansa Herath, the Assistant coach Nuran Senanayake, and the two women teachers in charge of the team were Nishanthi Sumanadasa and Udani Uswatte,

In this tournament much was expected from St.Sylvester’s College hockey players but they failed to keep up the game. They went down to schools like Sirimavo Vidyalaya Matale 0-1, Wesley College 0-2, Hindu College Matale 0-2, and two games ended in nil all draws, against Presidents College Maharagama and CWW Kannangara College.

Kandy SC getting ready for fourth game

Kandy SC are hard at training to come out for the fourth game of the season. An impressive team performance by the Kandy Sports Club ruggerites have helped them to be one of the undefeated sides in the inter league Nippon rugby first round league as the ruggerites maintain an iron-clad grip on the game.

They won all first three games they played and wil go out for the fourth game against Ait Force this week . . The key point of difference from most of the other rugby clubs is the the players play the game in the right way thanks to head coach Fazil Marija.
