Ranil, only leader in the hearts of Northerners – Former Jaffna Mayor
Yogeswari Sathkunarasa, former mayor of Jaffna said that even though the Tamil political leaders of the North have pledged their support to various others in the Presidential Election, Ranil Wickremesinghe is the only leader who is in the hearts of the people of the North and people should ensure his victory.
A group including the former mayor who has started campaigning in Jaffna to support the President said this while speaking to the media in Nallur, Jaffna.
She further said, “Ranil Wickremesinghe is a true leader. He is a person with a lot of experience in politics as well as international affairs. Some people understand what he is saying only after some time. The reason for that is his political foresight.
“Tamil politicians of the North do not have the quality of patience. They always look to get everything instantly.Because countries like China chose the right leaders at the right time, those countries have become very advanced today. Tamil politicians in our north keep saying the same thing everyday and nothing good has happened to them or to the people,”she said.
“It was President Ranil Wickremesinghe who took the initiative to return all the lands that had been lost to the people of the north. At present, the high security zones in the north are only in the areas where very important locations such as airports and ports are located, just like in other parts of the country”she said.
“It is the President who has freed all the temples and given the people the opportunity to worship them. President Wickremesinghe is the leader who took the lead in many development activities in the North. Tamil politicians in the north only kept the money given by the government to develop the north and handed it back to the government. Because of this, the people of the north must understand it is only President Wickremesinghe can develop these areas”.
