Twenty One year old, Rashmi Niyangoda, an old girl of Mahamaya Girls School,Kandy is at present an undergraduate of the University of Sri Jayewardenapura in the Arts stream and an All-round sportswoman who started her Tennis Career in the year 2009 in Grade three Class. Later on she was coached by two veteran Tennis coaches Senarath Athauda and Jayalath Manatunge and she was the Under Ten Girls Tennis champion at the Inter School Tennis Championship in the year 2011 organized by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association and in 2012 she represented the School and became the Tennis champion at the same tournament. In the year 2014 she became the Under Seventen Girls champion at the Garden Club Annual Tennis Championship and she was the Girls champion at the Open Tennis tournament held at the St.Anthonys’ College, Wattala Tennis Courts in the year 2015.

Rashmi was the mixed doubles Tennis Champion in the Ranking Tennis Tournament (C Grade) held in the year 2016 organized by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association and she became the School Tennis Captain from 2016 to 2020.
Rashmi started playing Cricket in the Grade Six onwards when she was Thirteen years old in 2012 upto 2021 as a Left hand Batswoman and as a wicket keeper she performed well in District Level Cricket Tournaments under the coaching of the Writer who was the Cricket coach of the School at that time.
She represented Inter House Cricket matches at the start in Sangamitta House of the School and became a talented wicket keeper and scored a half century (56 runs) at the final Match against Yasodara House in the year 2016. In 2017 under the Captaincy of Udara Bandara she scored 66 runs against Gothami Balika Vidyalaya and helped Mahamaya team to enter the finals.
She took three catches behind the stumps but unfortunately they were beaten in the finals. In 2018 She was in the Champion Mahamaya Cricket team at the annual Cricket Tournament but she did not fare well as a batswoman. Against Kandy Cricket Academy she had Four victims behind the stumps in the finals and in the same year Mayamaya Cricket team was selected as one of the Best Eight teams at the All Island girls Schools tournament.
As an athlete she won 100 Metre Hurdles for two years at the Inter House Athletic Meet in the Under Seventeen level representing Sangamitta House and as she has entered the University early this year her intention is to improve her sporting abilities to become National and International player in all three sports disciplines.
