Rural development has been prioritized with the resumption of the development projects in the country, which were halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the economic crisis, Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapakse said.
He stated this addressing an event marking the beginning of the renovation of the Pallerota – Ethbatuwa rural road with World Bank funds recently.
This 3.5 kilometre long road will be renovated at an estimated cost of Rs.110 million.
Rajapakse said the development projects being carried out were halted due to the then situation in the country. However, they have been resumed with the support of the World Bank.The Deputy Speaker further said that development of the infrastructure has taken place in the South and the North alike in the post-war period.
