Rise in Dengue cases

As per the statistics of the National Dengue Control Unit of the Ministry of Health, around 82,655 dengue cases have been reported so far this year.

The National Dengue Control Unit stated that 6165 dengue cases were reported in the month of December alone.

The highest number of dengue cases, 17,423 are reported from Colombo district.

The second highest number of dengue cases is reported from Gampaha district and the number is 15,643.

Apart from this, more dengue cases are reported from Kandy, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Batticaloa, Ratnapura, Keglala districts.

The National Dengue Control Unit is urging the public to ensure that their surroundings are clean, and mosquito breeding grounds are destroyed without delay.
