RMC Cricket Festival at Soysapura

The inter-grade softball cricket tournament organized by the Rawatawatte Methodist College’s sports department will be held tomorrow (18) at Soysapura Apartment Stadium.

Initiated by Principal Mrs. Avanti Dematagoda, the tournament marks the first-time effort to cultivate unity and camaraderie among children through sports, aiming to identify talented individuals. Deputy Principal Mrs. Yamuna Fernando, . Himal Perera (Teacher in charge) of cricket, Sports Counsellor Amila Niroshan Wijemuni, and Health and Physical Education Teacher Chetana Liyanage are guiding this inaugural event.

The tournament will feature 8 matches between different grades, with boys and girls from grades 6-7, 8-9, and 10-11 competing for four trophies. Teams from grades 6 to 9 will participate in the preliminary round, and the winning teams from each grade will advance to the finals.

Additionally, there are plans for an exhibition competition for teachers.
