A private hospital’s collecting centre in Dehiwala was fined Rs.1.5 million for charging an extra Rs.1350 than the stipulated amounts from patients for Dengue Antigen and Full Blood Count (FBC) tests, Colombo District Consumer Affairs Authority Unit Senior Investigation Officer E.U.Ranjana said
He said that this fine is the highest amount imposed on a private hospital affiliated laboratory in the history of detections by the CAA.
During the raid, it was revealed that the hospital charged Rs. 2500 beyond the gazetted amount of Rs.1,200 for a Dengue Antigen test and Rs.550 for a FBC test where the gazetted charge is Rs.400, he said.
The fine was made after the two charges were filed in the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court.
