Sajith has ability to win with support of all communities – Dilan Perera

MP Dilan Perera said that the Government servants should think about the past and present behaviour of the parties of the candidates, who are contesting for the Presidential Election this year, when casting postal votes.

The MP also said that many years ago, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna the present Malimawa had turned the entire citizenry into a people without an identity.

He said so while participating in a press briefing of Samagi Jana Balawegaya in Colombo on Tuesday (3).

“When casting postal votes, Government employees should think about the past and present of the parties of the candidates, who are running for the Presidential Election this year. Also, postal voters express different opinions on social media. But I did not see postal voters talking about the past behaviour of the candidates running for the Presidential Election,” the MP said.

“Many years ago, the JVP killed the family members of military officers. Their houses were burnt. In this way, the family members were killed because their relatives were in the Security Forces. However, we see military officers at the election meetings in Malimawa,” he added.

He added that the National ID is important for everyone, especially for the Government employees. But many years ago, the Janata Vimukthi Peramuna was able to make the people a citizen without an identity card. Therefore, it is important to vote while keeping in mind the harassment done by the parties to Government officials, who are serving the people. Despite the new behaviour of Malimawa, it is seen the JVP’s old habits emerging in some places. “Anura Dissanayake says that no violence will be created in the country after the election. But there is a doubt whether they have any plan to create violence in the country after the election,” he added.

He further noted in spite of what kind of waves are made in the country, in the end only Sajith Premadasa has the ability to win. There is no need to count a second preference for Sajith Premadasa for sure. United National Party is an important political force one time in the country. The UNP lost more than 20 elections when Ranil Wickremesinghe was the leader. Now the UNP has no name or symbol. Wickremesinghe also worked to destroy the elephant symbol of the United National Party,” he noted.
