Sampur Solar project progresses to RFP stage

Progress of the Sampur Ground Mount Solar Project of the Trincomalee Power Company Limited (TPCL), a joint venture between NTPC of India and CEB was discussed during the India Energy Week held last week by Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera.

The project has progressed to the Request for Proposal (RFP) stage and negotiations will begin for the power purchase agreement for the first phase of 50 MW of the 120 MW solar park once the RFP is evaluated.

The transmission infrastructure required will also be constructed by the JV. AIIB has extended assistance in financing a part of the project and discussions are progressing to commence the groundbreaking mid this year. NTPC Chairman Gurdeep Singh also expressed interest in wind and floating solar project investments in Sri Lanka.

NTPC Chairman, Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka Officials and other officials of NTPC participated.
