Samurdhi manager, officer, two others remanded over Rs.90 mn fraud

The Criminal Investigation Department has arrested four persons including the suspended manager of the  Horombawa Samurdhi Bank and the Samurdhi Development Officer for a fraud of more than Rs.90 million.

They are said to have defrauded the money after preparing fraudulent documents in the form of giving loans to depositors. The Financial Crimes Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department stated that the total amount of money allegedly obtained by these four suspects amounts to 90.25 million rupees. The Criminal Investigation Department stated that these four suspects were remanded until the 17th after they were produced before the Kuliapitiya Magistrate’s Court.
