Sathyanganie a fine cricketer and martial arts competitor
Seventeen year old, K.M.Sathyanganie, a Grade Twelve student of Mahamaya Girls School, Kandy is a fine Cricketer and Martial Arts Competitor and earlier she was at Gothami Balika Vidyalaya and joined Mahamaya in the year 2021 to improve her talent in sports as well as studies.Sathyanganie started Cricket in the year 2014 as a right arm leg spin Bowler and an attacking right hand Batswoman under the coaching of Samantha Dikkumbura, veteran Cricket Coach who has produced many National Women Cricketers.
Sathyanganie joined the Malwatte Sports Club under his coaching of Cricket and Athletics and she was selected to the Kandy District under Nineteen Cricket Squad under the coaching of Provincial Cricket coach,Amila Pinnaduwa.
In Athlelics she has excelled in 100,200 Metre races at Inter House sports meet and she improved her Cricket ability after joining the Kandy District Cricket Squad. She is also an accomplished Martial Arts Competitor who took part in a number of Championships. She was studying Martial arts at Zen Buda Martial Arts Academy in Sri Lanka, which was conducted by an International Martial Arts Federation. Sathyanganie has won several Martial Arts competitions when she participated at Sri Lanka Muaythai Championship and won a Silver Medal in the year 2017 in the Under 43 Kg.weight Class and two Gold medals in 2018 in Under 44 Kg. & in 2019 in Under 45 Kg. weight classes.
In the year 2020 she was awarded a Gold Medal for Under 18 ˜Best Sportswoman at the Sri lanka Muaythai Championship and a Special Trophy was awarded to her at a competition held at the Sugathadasa Stadium,Colombo by Major General Manoj Madanayake of the Sri lanka Army. Her Chief Consultant is Scottish National Master, Paul McWay who is currently an 8th Grade Black Belt.
In cricket after she has been selected to the Provincial Cricket Squad Sathyanganie is doing hard practices as her intention is to be selected to the National Women’s Cricket Squad as a talented Cricketer.
