Schools in several areas closed today

All schools in the Colombo Education Zone will be closed today (15) due to prevailing weather conditions.

The Western Province Education Director said that all schools in the Gampaha and Kelaniya education zones, as well as those in the Kolonnawa and Kaduwela divisions will remain closed today.

In addition, the Education Ministry has authorised education authorities across the island to take decisions regarding the closure of schools in their areas due to the rains.

Accordingly, appropriate measures should be taken by the Provincial Chief Secretary, Provincial Education Secretary or Provincial Education Director. It is also stated that further discussions will be held between the District Disaster Management Committees and the education authorities for further action.
