Second phase of the 2026 first school term begins

The second phase of the first school term of the 2026 academic year in government and government‑approved private schools commenced today.

The first phase of the first school term was held from January 5th to 9th, but schools were again closed from January 10th until yesterday due to Cyclone Ditwah and the rescheduled Advanced Level examinations.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Education states that the second phase of the first school term, starting today, will continue until February 13th.

Schools will then close again from February 14th to March 2nd for the 2025 GCE Ordinary Level examination.

However, due to the Ramadan festival, Muslim schools will remain closed from February 14th to March 22nd, according to the Ministry of Education. (Newswire)
